Egyptian Actress Yousra – Honored in Washington, DC.

I wanted to say thank you to a wonderful person who has inspired my life.

Egyptian actress, Yousra. We met many years ago at the American Embassy in Cairo. It was my first trip to Egypt and I was invited to the Embassy by the US Ambassador. I didn’t know who Yousra was at the time. She was standing quietly alone in the courtyard. She looked friendly, so I walked up to her and said “hello, my name is Darryl, I’m a composer.” She said, “Hi, my name is Yousra, and I’m an actress.” I asked, are you any good? She smiled and said, “Some people think so.” It was only later, that I realized how famous she was. During my music and cultural work in Cairo, we would sometimes meet each other at film events and we’d talk about many special things. She has always been a kind and true friend. Congratulations on your award dear.  Much love, Darryl
